How to become a Work Study Employer
 
With more than 90 offices and 80 off-campus vendors hiring student employees ( and some entities haveing many different student supervisors), it is important to understand the roles of the hiring supervisor. Below are highlights of several areas taht seem to generate the most questions from student supervisors. Please use the topics belwo as reference when you are working to meet your student employemnt needs.
 
In August of 2005, the Student Employment Office will issue the first publication of the Student Employer Handbook.  This handbook goes into further detail on the process of hiring process and forms that are needed for the upcoming school year.

FWS Checklist
  • Find a FWS job via Career center search.
  • Secure a job after meeting with a potential employer.
  • Your employer will complete a Federal Work Study Authorization Form with your information and return it to our office with a copy of your job description.
  • Meet with Program coordinator and  fill out the following documents and complete all payroll forms: W4 and I-9 forms, Picture ID or drivers license, social securty card, birth certificate, United States Passport, Alien Registration Card or Certificate of Naturalization
  • submit a completed direct deposit form
  • Submit accurate timesheet to your supervisor on time to receive our earings this should occur every two weeks.
