Employment Opportunities
The employment of students at Virginia Commonwealth University is intended to be of mutual benefit to students
who want employment and to those members of the university and surrounding communities who need jobs performed.
Student employment is a supportive service, but at the same time it must remain a complementary part of the
educational process.
The Office of Financial Aid will award FWS to students who have indicated a "work-study" preference on the
FAFSA if eligibility for the program has been demonstrated. Due to funding restrictions, FWS may not be awarded to all eligible
students. For full consideration, students should meet the VCU priority filing date.
Appeals of eligibility or requests for an award increase are made with financial aid counselors located in
the Office of Financial Aid. While all requests will be reviewed, there is no guarantee that admittance into the program and/or
any increase in the FWS award will be made. All decisions are rendered on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration
student eligibility, appeal reasons, and the availability of program funds. Students will be notified of the outcome of the
appeal.
If you have any questions or need additional information regarding student appeals or the Federal Work-Study
Program, please call the program coordinator at (804) 828-6669 or send an e-mail to faidmail@vcu.edu
